Agbara Orin:The power of the Song

Posted on 30 December 2016 by Babalawo Aworeni

20160612_170951

Songs or music is an energy that holds no boundary. It affects the soul that listens to it positively or negatively. It is also a form or way of communication between two people for example, God and man. We use songs and music to communicate peace, healing, prayer, warning, fighting, and war. Our energy field vibrates on either higher or lower level depending on the type of song we sing or music we play.

There is no gathering without songs and music. It plays an important role in every event. Happy or sad ones. Examples of happy events Wedding, naming ceremony, birthday party, coronation ceremony, Festivals, temple, sport , fighting ,warning including war. Examples of sad events are Funeral, war memorial etc.

20140625_100951

We have many types of songs such as love songs, spiritual, lullaby, sorrowful, war , fighting , warning etc. There is life force in songs and music. Babies love music. They cry you sing they stop crying. When they are finding it difficult to sleep and you sing, they sleep peacefully.Songs changes the vibration or energy of any environment. When a beautiful song is sang or music played, unity is formed.Everyone instantly forgets their differences. When you also listen to a spiteful or war songs, you spark into anger and everyone remembers their differences .love songs makes anyone that listen to it feel the energy of love. This is why we say that songs or music holds no boundary. Male or female, young or old. It does not discriminate.

Olodumare answers prayers through our song offerings, its a method of communication between man and God. It is a powerful method to call down the presence of the Orisas for their blessings, ritual, feed and guidance. An instant connection with the realms of the spirit happens through song offerings. Your heart sparkles with joy, hope and gladness. There’s a high level of contentment and assurance that all is well. We can never underestimate the spirit force of songs and music.

20160604_112321

During the festival we are using song to called all the deities down so that they can be able to answer our offers. Each orisa has their own song and all the icon of spiritual has their own songs too and the different orisa priests has their own songs. When we make a sacrifice or feed the Orisa we are using songs to called all the gods down. We can use songs to make a peace between two people.

In the Odu Ifa Ogbe Sa, Ifa gives the story of how the Apetebi became the wife of Orunmila. Ifa relates that Orunmila went to war in the town of Ilu obirin after all the efforts of the other Orisha were unsuccessful. Orunmila consulted Ifa, made the proper sacrifice and subsequent  was able to defeat the uprising in Ilu obirin. The town of Iluobirin was inhabited by only women. Orunmila used song to capture them in Ilu obirin town when the women were tied together with rope and taken back to the town where Orunmila resided.

20140618_120226

Orisas love to be worshiped through songs. A person that connects to the forces through songs will never stop singing even when the song is finished or music stops playing. In your ears exude, inner lyrics of the spirit realms. Your inner ears is so receptive and open to hear soft played orchestral music that ordinary ears cannot hear from the musical realms of the spirits. There’s a change in your energy field because you are a constant worshiper of Olodumare, Orunmila and the orisas through songs. You are a special vessel that they can communicate to, through an invocation of songs. ASE  !!!

Osetura Agbara Obirin : The power of the woman

Posted on 22 March 2014 by Babalawo Aworeni

photo(4)Osetura Agbara Obirin: The power of the woman

Osetura is the odu that is called when making a sacrifice. If it isn’t called the ebo will not be effective.  The only way an ebo can be effective and be received by Olodumare is for the incantation for Osetura to be called.

The odu Osetura also speaks about the power of women.  It says that if they aren’t given honor and respect then they can anger and they have the ability to destroy the world.

If a woman wants to capture the power from a man, she can use 201 tricks that are intrinsic to all females then they can use an additional 50 tricks after which the man’s power will be theirs if they desire it.

The lives of all males are in the hand of the female.  If a husband is to succeed let us look to his wife.  The success of the family is in the hand for the woman.

We have to give females respect and honor whenever a sacrifice is made.  If any female enter during the time when the sacrifice is being made, then it is said that they the sacrifice has been accepted.  This is because Olodumare empowers women and it is good for men to give full respect for women.

This odu teaches us that we should not use our eyes to under value a woman or any person.  All the Irunmole know the power that Olodumare gave to Osun and she has great ability to fight them.  In the end they all give her great respect.

Akere finu sogbon

Ni oruko ti an pe ifa iran

Ija gidigidi ko kan agba

Eniti olorun ba pe ni lagba

Baba la ma pe

Adifa fun osetura ti o ma ti kere

Gba agba lowo olodunmerinlogun

This is divined for all Igba Irumole Oju Kotun and divined for Igba Irunmole Oju Kosi, when they came from the heaven to this earth.

When they got to earth and they began building their house but they refused to build a house for Osun because they thought her to be a simple female.

Osun watched carefully how the Irunmole treated her.  This was the way they began building the world.  However she knew that if they were to know peace or to succeed in the world, in the end they would have to beg her and give her the ultimate respect.

As time progressed, the earth changed for the worse and all the people that Orunmila said would survive, died and the people he said should die, survived.

Ogun is the one who produces the iron, when he want to manufacture iron, all made wasn’t any good.

Obatala is the one who make the artists, and at this time all artist he made turned out bad.

The earth turned into a place of disaster and the Irunmole went back to Olodumare.  They explained all that happened on the earth.

And Olodumare use his mirror to check the world and he saw that Osun was under the tree.  Olodumare asked the Irunmole what became of the female that he sent with them to earth was.  They answered that she was a simple and ordinary female.  Olodumare told them they have to go back to the earth and build the house for her and give her the honor and respect.

When they got back to this earth, they built a house for her and Osun refused to sleep there because they didn’t build it for her in the beginning.  Then all the Irunmole decided that they we would sleep in the same house.

Osun is a beautiful woman all of Irunmole wanted to be with her but they didn’t know how.

Orunmila has a lot knowledge and he used his knowledge to speak a secret incantation.  Nobody understood what he saying to the iroko and he put the words to Osun’s chest.  This is how he was able to have his way with her.

When Osun woke up in the morning she saw that her clothes were wet and she called all the Orisa and asked them who had sex with her nobody answered.

Osun took out the Edun Ara, pulled her power and called the incantation that said whomever had sex with her the Arira should kill that person.  Thunder entered Orunmila’s house.

Orunmila took  his Oke Ponri Re o Gbe o and made a reading.  Then he used the Sigidi, called on his power using his power, and began to recite a powerful incantation, which said that Sigidi should kill Osun.

Osun listened to the words that Orunmila spoke and she asked him if he was the one who had sex with her and he answered her in the affirmative.

Osun asked why he didn’t tell her and he asked her to please calm down, so he could explain.

The two of them reconciled, married and became husband and wife.

Nine months later Osun delivered a baby boy and they names the baby, Omo Ti Osun Tu Wa.

When the baby grew up, Orunmila asked Osun to have another baby, but she refused.  She only wanted to have one child for Orunmila.

Osun said that if any babalawo want to make any ritual or sacrifice and if they don’t called the name of my child, Osun Tu Wa or Osetura the ritual or sacrifice we not be effective.

If a babalawo wants to make the (ebo) sacrifice he has to called Osetura to the sacrifice before it can accepted by Olodumare.

This is odu lets us know the powerful of females.

Oloye Olori Iwarefa Owolabi Aworeni.

Agbara Oro Enu : The Power of the Word

Posted on 05 August 2013 by Babalawo Aworeni

100_0670

Agbara Oro Enu: The Power of the Word

Oro Enu (The Word) is very power and we have to be careful before speaking. It is the Word that created this world, and it is the Word that can destroy it.A good Word can lead us to success and a bad Word can lead to our downfall.

We can use Oro Enu to become rich and that same rich person can become poor because of Oro Enu.

There are many Odu that speak about Oro Enu:

Etura Obara/ Etura Arawara

Fi enu mo enu

Fi ete mo ete

A difa fun iwofa alaba to

Fe lori oku gbigbe lori igi obi

Ifa ni gbogbo ti oju ba ri

Ni enu ma so.

This verse, Ifa tells us that it is important to remember that all that the eyes see, the mouth cannot say. If the mouth fails to heed this warning, problems will manifest for the mouth. When the mouth says all of what the eyes see then the mouth will tear like a cloth.

If people don’t use caution they can find themselves in a very bad place. In another odu, Eturupon Meji/Ologbona Meji

Ifa says:

Enu roro paro

Enu roro sa e

Enu mujemuje Nibiti otito ku s

i This Odu tells us that not all that the mouth says is the truth because words can be used to trick people by lying and deceiving. One can also use words to show honor or dishonor.

The word a is like an egg, if it falls it is not possible to restore it to its original state. The Word that people say will not die maybe they are good words or maybe they are bad words. However, the Word that has been said will be remembered and it will continue to be remembered long after the person who has said it, is long gone.

Let us always use good words so that people will always remember us from our good words.

Ifa says in another verse,

Irete Ogunda/Irete Ariya

Oro rere ni yobi lapo

Oro buburu niyo ida nu apo

A difa fun ako ariya

Alukin fun abo ariya

This verse tells us to have good words in our mouth; it is good words that bring kola nuts out of the pocket. It is bad words that take the sword out of the scabbard. If we say good words all the time it will bring us blessings, honor and respect. However bad words give us disgrace, dishonor and death.

If you want to do anything in this world you must use words. If someone is looking for work regardless of their credentials, they must speak in an interview. If you want a wife or husband is it through the communication that people come together. If there is a problem with the law it is through words that the case is made in your favor or not.

To become a leader it is through the word. When a leader uses good words then they will have loyal followers. Because of the good word a leader may be successful.

People use words to protect themselves from danger. We can also use word to fight without using any weapon or medicine. At the job or office or in politics they use words to fight each other, they use words to send people to jail and words can also cause sickness in the body.

Ofun Okanran/ Ofun Ran Ekun

Ifa se ko awo omode

Igede dun mo awo agbalagba

Babalawo to ko ifa ti ko ko

Igede ko ma ranti ojo kan pa san

A difa fun wale elu abi somo ni igede ekiti

In this odu, Ifa tells us that when you want to go and learn Ifa you have to learn Ifa Ijugbe Word not Agabamirara word. Ifa Ijugbe Word are good and peaceful words. But Agabamirara word are strong, fighting words.

This odu Ifa says that it is important to learn both the good word and the strong word. One must use them to together but one cannot let the bad outweigh the good. It is important to remember that even if it isone day of fighting and one day of war nothing is taken away from the battlefield, it is the words that persists. It is only the word that will be said out and it will continue. It is the word that will eventually take you from danger.

We use the word to call Spirit. Whether it is Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, it is through the word that the spirit is called. We use the word to bind the spirit to medicine that is to heal or harm. Be mindful of the words you use, for it is our most powerful asset.

World Ifa Festival 2011

Posted on 05 June 2011 by Babalawo Owolabi

The Orunmila Barami Agbonmiregun, the World Ifa Festival was held Saturday June 4-5, 2011 at Oketase the World Ifa Temple, Ile-Ife. This festival celebrates the New Year for all the traditional Yoruba practitioners.

This year’s World Ifa festival was attended by many from within Nigeria as well as from all over the world. The rituals began in the early morning and continued into the following day.

The Ifa Divination for all Ifa practitioners worldwide is as follows:

OBARA OGUNDA; OBARA EGUNTAN – IRE GBOGBO (Ifa takes all aspects of Ire)
This is a good odu for all Ifa practitioners, Ifa has given special warnings and advice for this year. In Obara Eguntan, Ifa says that in this year all the people should use cock to feed their head. The individual should make the sacrifice so that they will be pregnant and will have good health and fortune during the pregnancy. All the women that are looking for pregnancy in this year will have it. Men should make the sacrifice for their wife in this respect. In this year the knife will not be used to deliver the baby. All babies will be delivered through natural means.
Ifa says that the boy child will be born in this year and he will bear the name Ifadeyi. We must make the sacrifice for all of our children this year so that they will not fight with their elders.
Ifa says it is taboo in this year to be greedy. A large sacrifice must be made for the house help, for those working in the home or the family that is living in the home, so that they will not create danger in the household. Ifa says we should feed the head of the home helpers and the extended family in the home.
It is not good in this year to work deceptively at someone’s back to be subversive in one’s actions. It is not good to tell lies in this year.
A large sacrifice must be made because of the Egun, so that we will have a curse on our head. An ancestor that perpetrated a terrible thing was cursed and as a result his descendants were also cursed. Because of this all Ifa practitioners must make a sacrifice to ameliorate this condition.
In this year all those who are initiated to Ifa and other Orisa will see blessings. Aje (money) must be fed because of the money that is coming in this year. The Erinlele must be feed with agbo (ram). One should not use force to collect money. Those that use force to collect money will lose their life. Be very careful about using powerful rituals for money, it will end badly in this year.  In this year we should not do things only because of money. Whether the thing is good or is false, the sole purpose in doing it should not be because of money.
In this year we must solve our grievances with one another and should not be angry. We should not fight amongst ourselves. Do not hold grudges or act passive aggressively. One should be direct and resolve differences. However, Ifa also says we should not tolerate nonsense.

Ifa says to all the Olorisa that in this year they must initiate to Ifa. In general we must be diligent in taking care of our Ifa. Take care of Ifa on every Ose Ifa and take care of our Orisa.
Ifa also says that all the babalawo, iyanifa, etc. should not be promiscuous and be careful who we have sex with. One should not take another’s wife or husband. The Oluwo should be careful about the female. What is done in private will leak out. If an Elder wants to curse, the Omo Awo should beg them to hold themselves. Beg the Elder to not be upset and not to curse.
All Ifa practitioners will see a promotion in their life this year. Ifa says that all the Omo Awo should be humble to their Oluwo. A big sacrifice should be made so that all the Awo will have good relationships. It is important that the Omo Awo make the sacrifice so that Ifa will teach them in their dreams.
Ifa says that others will not collect our blessings in this year. All the children that have left their home will come back to their parents. The blessings will come back home in this year. Our head will show us the right and prosperous path. Specifically those that are initiated to Ifa will see these blessings. If our head is good, then by this time next year we will see much prosperity. Because of the sacrifice that we are to make for our Ori this year, one should not carry heavy loads on their head in this year.
Ifa says that whatever his worshipers ask for in this year, he will do it. The Ifa devotee should sacrifice what is in their mind for Ifa this year. The Ifa devotee will live long and all disease will leave their body. All good babalawos will see good blessings in this year. All babalawo should make the sacrifice for their wife and children so that they will not see problems.
Ifa says that we should make the sacrifice to defeat all of our enemies. Ifa says that we should feed Moremi so that she will defeat all of our enemies. One should travel to the Moremi shrine in Ile-Ife to feed her. Ifa says the sacrifice should be carried to Ilamonja – Igbo Moremi. The sacrifice is 16 ogede omirin.
Ifa also gives all the Ifa practitioners the warnings to not use their mouth to curse. The Ifa devotee should not be too prideful and must show humility.
Ifa says that we should keep our homes neat and orderly. We should keep our clothes clean and well kept. One should not wear dirty clothes in this year.
16 Abe and the blood of the agbo should be used in the sacrifice for this year. The sacrifice should also be made so that those that are trying to send the babalawo out will fail in their plans. So that the hand they use to hurt the Ifa devotee will only be used to hurt themselves.

Odun Ilefin Araba Agbaye 2010

Posted on 24 June 2010 by Babalawo Aworeni

The Odun Elefin festival for the Araba Agbaye was held Tuesday, June 22, 2010. This is the festival of Orunmila where the Araba Agbaye will pray for all Ifa devotees. During the celebration the Araba became the Ekun Orisa, where he symbolically transformed into a leopard. The symbol of the leopard can only be represented by the Araba Agbaye.

Mo po ju wo eyin kin ri oba Araba da amotekun odese odieranko abifinlara

This proverb is for the Araba Agbaye and says to look back to see the King, the Araba has turned into the leopard.

The Araba and all the people gather proceed to the Ooni’s Palace. On the way to the Palace the Araba and all the Awo do  many spiritual rituals.

All the Ojugbona sing and chant adura at the Palace. All the Awoolodumerindinlogun consulted Ifa when at the palace. Then they went to the Araba Agbaye and recited the Odu that fell. Because of the secret nature of the true consultation, all the Awoolodumerindinlogun when asked by the Araba in public they replied Eji Ogbe, Ire Aje, etc.
